GMDSS RADIO OPERATOR

To qualify the student, not waterway, to exercise the duties of General radio operator, in accordance with Regulation IV / 2 of the STCW Convention-1978 and its amendments and Table A-IV / 2 of Section A-IV / 2 of the STCW Code-1978 and its amendments and the rules of the IMO.
Work in the offshore and onshore area as GMDSS Operator of Radio Station.
Everyone that would like to work as Radio Operator.
The student must be at least 18 years old and High School Diploma or GED.; have medical certificate of good health (physical and mental), computer knowledge, good diction, quick thinking, good writing, good relationships, emotional self-control and desirable knowledge in English.
Presentation of theoretical content, using visual and printed material about concepts, rules and daily applications of radio frequency for use in a emergency situation and routine. Operation of equipment in simulators that make up a radio station performing routine and emergency communications that make up the daily life of a radio station using global standards.
The course will be taught in 11 days (88 hours). The basic number of daily lesson should be 08 hours. The 88 hours are subdivided into:

Course Duration: 02 weeks
Workload (lesson-hour): 72 hours
Evaluation: 08 hours
Time left: 08 hours
Total workload: 88 hours
The course is valid for three years recommended.
1- Do I need to have fluent English to do the GMDSS course?
No. But it is good that the student have a basic understanding of English. Because the equipment operated have the English as official language.
